The death of Chris Kelly serves as a reminder that celebrities, before they are entertainers, idols and icons are human. The desire to escape reality by abusing drugs and alcohol is often indicative of an underlying, deeper issue. Rappers and hip-hop artist portray a lifestyle that would seemingly refute the theory that money can’t buy happiness. They rap/sing about having the world but the cost of fame often isn’t monetary. It often involves bouts with mental illness that audiences know nothing about.
