Illness sees no color, does not care about bank accounts, nor does it concern itself with sexual preference. Angelina Jolie made a brave decision to undergo a double mastectomy. Unfortunately that decision is made by both women and men on a daily basis.


The CDC reports that  black women have the second highest rate of breast cancer yet they lead in death rates, almost 40 percent more likely to die than their white counterparts. The main cause for the disparity: lack of screening. This list of celebrity survivors became advocates for women to undergo screening and perform breast self-examinations.
