Just when you thought the high-profile drama over the “Mighty Morphing Power Rangers” reunion had finally come to an end, another popular ranger is refusing to suit up for an upcoming reunion episode of “Power Rangers Megaforce.” In a new interview, Karan Ashley, the actress who played the second Yellow Ranger is refusing to do the reunion. She claims that the producers have treated her poorly.
In a 45-minute long interview with the audio blog Uncensored Radio, Ashley claims that the reunion plans were poorly handled and that the producers only offered to pay her 2 days of work for a 5 day shooting schedule.
“I’m not trying to help someone make another billion dollars,” she says, “and you’re not even going to pay me for my time? It’s disrespectful. It’s just wrong.”
Last week, the original Blue Ranger, David Yost, refused the reunion, claiming that the show’s producers targeted him for being gay during his three-year run on the show. A day later, the original Black Ranger, Walter Jones, refused to do the reunion as well, claiming that he was supporting his friend, Yost.
Jones claims of horrible treatment from several of the producers who mistreated the cast during their original runs on the show are still there. They continue to show disrespect the 10 actors who were invited back for the reunion.
Ashley claims that the producers sent a poorly written and impersonal request to the actors, waited weeks to respond and then uninvited several of the actors who were excited to return to the show, simply citing “budgetary reasons.”
Well, clearly the set of “Power Rangers” wasn’t as magical and happy as we all once thought, and we’re not holding our breath on a reunion happening any time soon now. Unfortunately, this isn’t the only time that a show’s cast refused a reunion. Check out some other TV show reunions that we doubt will ever happen below. – nicholas robinson
