Amanda Bynes’s drug arrest was by far the most bizarre moment in celebrity news this week. But if you thought the oddities of Bynes’s legal troubles were over, think again. While appearing in court yesterday, Bynes offered a questionable excuse about her drug paraphernalia, claiming that the alleged bong that she threw out of her apartment window was actually a vase and that the police assaulted her, as well.
Police were summoned to Bynes’s apartment on Thursday after a bellman in her building called law enforcement to report that Bynes was smoking marijuana in the lobby. Sources claim that when a uniformed officer arrived at the scene and entered Bynes’s apartment, he asked about what appeared to be a bong sitting on the kitchen counter. Bynes then allegedly grabbed the bong and threw it out of the window onto the street below.
“I observed [Amanda] grab said bong, run to the westbound-facing window, and throw it out the window where numerous pedestrians were walking on the 8 Avenue and West 47 Street sidewalks below,” the officer claimed.
But according to TMZ, Bynes, who appeared in court wearing a disheveled platinum blonde wig, told the judge that what she threw out of the window was actually “just a vase,” not a bong.
However, according to NBC New York, Bynes’s attorney, Andrew Friedman, contradicted Bynes’s claim, saying that there was no bong or vase found on the street.
“Nothing was recovered from the sidewalk. Clearly a search was made for the bong … my client completely denies ever illegally throwing anything out of her window,” said Friedman.
Prosecutors requested that Bynes be held on $1,000 bail, but the judge decided to release Bynes with bail but warned her that if she missed her next court date an arrest warrant would be issued.
Last night, Bynes took to Twitter and left a message for her fans about her alleged drug use as well as her ghastly mug shot.
“I only smoke tobacco I don’t drink or do drugs. I’ve never had a bong in my life! I need to get another nose job after seeing my mugshot! :D,” she tweeted.
Clearly, this is just the beginning of a kooky and outrageous legal drama, but we’re surely going to stay tuned like the rest of the world.
