Kanye West goes off during Governor’s Ball: ‘We just made some real music’

2013 Governor's Ball Music Festival - Day 3

A Kanye West show and a Kanye West rant are one-and-the-same at this point. The hip-hop superstar remained true to form during his latest performance. West took the stage in New York City last night (June 9th) at the Governor’s Ball Music Festival,  where he closed out the festival by premiering  more new songs from his upcoming album Yeezus. West performed the previously-heard tracks “New Slaves” and “Black Skinheads,” as well as new tracks “I Am A God,” and “On-Site.”

As usual, Kanye blasted the radio, his perceived lack of promotion and said that he could care less about how many albums he sells this time around.

“This is the part of the show when I start complaining about s–t, justifying s–t, but you know how it is,” he began–with the beat from his hit “Clique” playing in the background. “With this album, we ain’t drop no single to radio. We ain’t got no NBA campaign, nothing like that. S–t, we ain’t even got no cover. We just made some real music.”

“Like, back when I used to make albums and s–t, a couple years ago, we’d go away and work on the album for months or something,” ‘Ye continued. “We’d always have to hold the album to like August, or September or till the perfect moment and s–t. Because it mean that ‘I think would sell more if it get more audience and s–t.’ But honestly, at this point when I listen to radio, that ain’t where I want to be no more. Honestly at this point, I couldn’t give a f*** about selling a million records as long as I put out an album for the summer that y’all can rock to for all f****n’ summer.”
