Former neighborhood watch volunteer, George Zimmerman, finally goes to trial almost a year-and-a-half after admittedly killing teenager Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Fla., igniting a national firestorm on race relations and Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law.
Even though Zimmerman is the one with his life on the line, it will be deceased, Martin who will be on metaphorical trial. Prosecutors will present Martin, an innocent boy minding his own business, while the defense will work to portray the teen as a wayward adolescent who was a criminal in the making.
