Check for allergic reactions.
Many coloring agents  have chemicals in them that can be irritating to your skin, and therefore damaging to your scalp. You should conduct a test to ensure the product is safe for your skin. After choosing the brand if you are coloring your hair at home, apply a tiny amount of hair dye near your neck or behind your ear to see if irritation, redness, inflammation, allergy, hair loss or any bad reactions occur. Wash the affected area right away if this happens. Do this test about 1-2 days before dying your hair.

Consult a professional.
Instead of putting a random color on your hair because you see someone else with it, you should ask a colorist. They will help you pick a new color that is prefect for you. One of the worst things you could do is have a hair color that awful on you.
