Late Kansas City linebacker Jovan Belcher, who shot his girlfriend and baby’s mother Kasandra Perkins to death in December 2012, left his newborn daughter, Zoey, orphaned after killing himself later that day at a practice facility. Custody of Belcher and Perkins’ now 9-month-old daughter has been awarded to Perkins’ cousin, Sophie Perkins, 35, in Texas per a ruling by Jackson County Probate Commissioner Daniel Wheeler.
