Shari Headley, then — She played the breathtakingly beautiful and charismatic Lisa McDowell and love interest of Murphy’s Akeem character. At first in love with the Afro jheri curled Eriq La Salle who was a hater to the fifth power, she eventually found herself in the arms of Akeem by the movies close. Headley began her acting career in on “Miami Vice” in 1984 and in 1985 on the “Cosby Show” and had a leading role in the short-lived “413 Hope St.” before landing the career-defining role on Coming to America.
