Ice Cube is a Los Angeles icon and the hip-hop superstar has long been one of the most vocal supporters of his city’s sports teams. So, of course, the gangsta rap godfather had an opinion on the recent departure of former Los Angeles Laker (now Houston Rocket) center Dwight Howard. Howard spurned the chance to sign a lucrative deal to return to the Lakers in favor of going to the Rockets. While many sports analysts deemed the decision the smarter one for the notoriously indecisive big man, fans were outraged at the news.
And one fan in particular is letting Dwight have it.
During a recent performance at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, Cube unloaded a harsh tirade aimed squarely at Howard’s reputation. Referring to the NBA star as “Dwight Coward” and ranting that “we don’t need no b—hes on our team,” Cube immediately got the approval of the crowd.
