Jay-Z recently revealed his thoughts on Lil Wayne claiming that he would “kidnap” Beyonce. On the Carter 4, Lil Wayne rapped, “Talking about Baby money, I got your Baby money, kidnap your b–, get that ‘how much you love your lady money.'”
Jay-Z responded to Lil Wayne on the song “La Familia” by rapping, “Wanna kidnap wifey, Good luck with that bruh, You must gonna hide your whole family, What you think we wearing black for, Ready for that war.”
During an interview with Power 105, Jay-Z went further and discussed what he thought about Lil Wayne’s diss. “It’s a part of the sport and competition,” Jay-Z said. “I didn’t take it serious. I didn’t view it as a threat. I thought it was a flip of a line I rapped when I said, “[You] don’t have my wifey money.” I wasn’t speaking of him. I guess he’s holding the flag. But I didn’t take it as a threat.”
But while Lil Wayne and Jay-Z are throwing lyrical jabs at each other, there was a time when Jay-Z considered signing Lil Wayne to Roc-a-Fella Records. This occurred during the early 2000s and before Lil Wayne released Tha Carter.
“I had a meeting with Lil Wayne,” Jay-Z said. “But I also had a relationship with Baby. So out of respect, I called Baby and told him that I was talking to Lil Wayne. After that call, a letter came to our offices that claimed ‘Tortuous Interference’ [in relations to our communication with Lil Wayne]. I would rather lose that situation and do the right thing than do the opposite. I could have signed Lil Wayne and told Baby afterwards. But I’m cool with that situation.”
