‘Rolling Stone’s Boston bombing cover sparks outrage
Rolling Stone, a publication noted for putting rock stars on its covers, is catching flack for being incredulously insensitive and giving the “star treatment” to the accused Boston bomber, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Tsarnaev, who is accused of killing three people and injuring hundreds during the Boston Marathon, is the mag’s cover boy and he certainly looks like a celeb. The accused murderer is looking smugly at the camera and his long hair is tousled ever so slightly.
According to several people, including celebs, Rolling Stone‘s cover story and “rock star” photo are not only offensive, they’re so reprehensible that a boycott is coming the mag’s way. Additionallym CVS stores and Tedeschi Food Shops have pledged not to carry the mag’s latest issue.
We previously noted that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has developed a sort of fan club consisting of zany women who believe he’s “too cute” to die.
So far, Rolling Stone is standing by the controversial cover. Check out Twitter reactions from fans and celebs alike below. –danielle canada
