Tamar Braxton denies being a bad mother

Tamar Braxton - Baby Blues Cover-001

Tamar Braxton is used to being a controversial figure in the media, but she recently drew fire from critics when she revealed that she didn’t immediately fall in love with her newborn son, Logan Vincent Herbert, whom she and her husband, Vince Herbert, welcomed last month. But the “The Real” co-host recently opened up about the drama and is claiming she’s not bothered by the “bad mother” allegations.

During a recent interview with Sister 2 Sister, Braxton claimed that her statement about Logan was “completely taken out of context, but isn’t everything I say?”

Despite the blowup over her statements, Braxton refused to apologize or explain herself to angry fans.

“You know, some people get [it] and some people don’t,” Braxton said. “What I’ve learned along the way is that you can’t go to each person and explain yourself. And I refuse to do that.”

“You can think whatever you want to think. I love my son; I feel blessed to have him in my life and that’s it,” Braxton added.

However, Braxton did eventually clarify her statement, saying that, although she has always loved her son, she was still dealing with the shock of becoming a mother when he was born.

“Of course you love your child, but no one talks about the initial shock, and that’s what happened to me,” Braxton shared. “I was shocked. I was shocked for at least three days. Like, ‘Oh, my God! I’m a mother, this is my baby. I can’t believe this is the person that’s been swimming inside of me for nine months.’”

And now that Braxton has gotten over her shock, she’s overflowing with love for her family.

“Vince and I have been together for 10 years and this is something that’s come out of our 10-year relationship. It’s amazing,” she explained.

To be fair to Braxton, many new mothers, both regular and celebrity, including Jill Scott, Brooke Shields and Jennifer Lopez, have broken the stereotypical image of motherhood and explained that they felt shock, anxiety and even postpartum depression after giving birth. And though many would like to think that the transition into motherhood is always easy and “natural,” there are many negative accounts to prove that’s not always the case for new mothers.

Thankfully, Braxton seems have dealt with her shock and is now deeply in love with her son.
