Nearly two weeks after being buried by her family, Sharolyn Jackson was discovered alive. According to reports by KYW-TV in Philadelphia, Jackson’s family believed that her body was that of a woman found dead in July.

A medical examiner provided images of the deceased woman to Jackson’s son and a social worker who knows her. Both identified the deceased woman as Jackson. Once the family was given a death certificate, they held a funeral for Jackson in New Jersey.

However, on Aug. 16, Jackson walked into a psychiatric center and checked herself into the facility. Her family members were notified and overjoyed by Jackson’s presence.

The Philadelphia Health Department released a statement and ensured that proper protocol was followed. City officials will exhume the body with the hopes of identifying the woman who was found dead.
