The 2009 VMAs would be remembered for a lot of things (more on that later), not the least of which was when hip-hop afterthought Lil Mama spontaneously hopped onstage to perform alongside Jay Z and Alicia Keys during their spirited rendition of “Empire State of Mind.” Jay was not amused.
