“Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever” — This represents the peak of Jackson’s creative brilliance. And you could not pay or create this kind of timing. Who knew that Jackson’s songs “Billie Jean” would be #1 on the Billboard charts with “Beat It” was #5  and his videos were in high rotation, when “Motown 25” TV special that set records for viewers came on?

Funny thing is that, the night before the special in March of 1983, Jackson had no idea what dance moves he would perform because he was too busy getting his brothers together for their portion of the time on stage. According to his autobiography, MJ decided the night before to display the Moonwalk that some kids in the hood had showed him and that Jackson had just perfected.

The moment that Jackson began walking backwards while appearing to step forward, his legend as one of the most electrifying entertainers of all time was cemented in stone. What happened next can be summed up succinctly by blogger Jayb4321:

“I remember this night I was in the 1st or 2nd grade.. I remember going to school the next day and everybody was trying to do all the moves. After this night everywhere you went from the Mall,Wallmart,Kmart,Circuit City,MTV,Movie Theaters,Skating Rinks, and any store that had a VCR player on display you saw Billie Jean playing.. people would stop in the store and just watch Mike dance.. not even thinking about buying the VCR.. Lol.. you just had to be there in that time to understand.. it was like everyone went Michael Jackson crazy.”
