Wayne says that his primary motivation for hanging up his microphone would be to spend more time with his children. He explained to Couric that he wants to be with his children more–but not because he’s interested in dictating their lives.
“Whatever they want to do,” he said, regarding his approach to child rearing. “I don’t want to have no influence … ‘Hey you must do this, you must do that.'”
“Because I didn’t have that and because I didn’t have that I grew up to be exactly what I wanted to be and how I wanted to be,” he explained. “I want that for all of my kids.”
“My oldest is my beautiful daughter, she’s 14, Reginae. She’s awesome, she’s a firecracker,” said Wayne. “Personality out of this world.
Weezy revealed that retirement is such an attractive option for him because he’s already a bit burned out by the rigors of being one of the biggest hip-hop stars in the world.
“I know I’ll be ready to retire at 35 because I am so ready to retire now!” said Wayne.
