A black college student at Southern Illinois University was the victim of a hate crime in Chicago. According to a report by the Chicago Tribune, the woman was approached by Tom Diamond while walking from Resurrection Medical Center.
Diamond yelled at the woman, “Hey you stupid black n— b—, how does it feel to walk in an all-white neighborhood.” The woman told Diamond that she wasn’t from the area and continued to walk.
But Diamond continued to harass the woman and said, “If I see you in my neighborhood again, I’m going to rape you and hang you from a tree!”
Diamond then began chasing the woman who ran until she reached Resurrection Medical Center. She immediately called the police who arrested Diamond at his home.
The woman is studying to be a doctor’s assistant and travels to Chicago on weekends to work.
