After becoming frustrated with Philadelphia’s traffic, Brian Kada decided to carjack an ambulance with a patient inside. According to a report by Philly.com, Kada was riding in a taxi when he was slowed by heavy traffic. In order to beat the traffic, Kada jumped out of the taxi and ran to an ambulance that was transporting a patient to the hospital. Kada brandished a gun and forced the paramedics out of the ambulance.
Kada then began driving recklessly on the shoulder of the expressway, clipping several vehicles.
The back tire flattened and Kada eventually abandoned the ambulance. He approached another car with the intentions of stealing the vehicle, but Kada saw the police and fled.
After a short chase, police caught and arrested Kada who was visiting from Florida. He has been charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and firearms violations.
The patient who endured the wild ride was not injured during the carjacking and was transported to the hospital once police arrived on the scene.
