At the National Black Theater hip-hop pioneers Ice T, DMC, DJ Red Alert and many others were honored at the United Zulu Nation’s 40th anniversary. On Friday evening, festivities took place in Harlem, the birthplace of some of the greatest cultural achievements in African American history.
If you aren’t familiar with the United Zulu Nation, headed by hip-hop icon Afrika Bambaataa, it’s one of the largest hip-hip grass-root organizations.
Ice-T and his wife were in attendance as well as Grand Master Caz.
While old school hits blasted from the speakers, Zulu members flooded the multi-level venue draped in matching garb, symbolizing a unified brotherhood of like-minded individuals.
DJs and rap heads greeted each other, libations flowed and those who could appreciate the experience would surely never forget the 40th anniversary.
