Saturday night, K. Michelle’s “Rebellious Soul” tour stopped in Chicago at music hotspot The Shrine. The show, which also featured up and coming singers Tiara Thomas and Sevyn Streeter, was sponsored by BET and Myx Fusions Moscato.
It was a great show with Thomas opening and engaging the crowd like a seasoned professional. She even told the backstory of her hit song with Wale, “Bad.” Apparently, she had written the song a while ago and got to play it for him when he visited her college campus. The rapper immediately fell in love with the song and they collaborated to make the smash it has become.
After Thomas, singer/songwriter Sevyn Streeter gave a great set featuring songs from her upcoming album Call Me Crazy, But…., and a terrific cover of Aaliyah’s “Come Over” that drove the crowd wild.
Next up, was the woman of the hour. K. Michelle gave a passionate performance of popular songs from her debut album Rebellious Soul, often stopping to talk to the audience and draw them in further. While her performance was great, what really sent the crowd into a frenzy was her outfit. “Form fitting” isn’t quite the word. “Hip hugging” won’t exactly suffice. This writer will leave it up to you to google the images (because it was that eye popping that pictures began to circulate immediately) and make up your own mind. There was so much drama about the outfit that K. Michelle ended up sending the following tweet out of frustration:
Photoshop or not, I’m sure she knew that outfit would be a conversation starter.
