Trinidad James is still facing the backlash that he ignited after the Atlanta native made some rather brash comments about New York City hip-hop during a recent performance.
“What the f–k happened, dog? Us in the South, us ‘bammas, we just did our own thing. But now we run y’all musically. That’s crazy!” James said at the time. “I’m not trying to start nothing, but if you want to do something we can do something because I don’t give a f–k. I’m just being honest with you. I looked up to New York music. But now every n—a that’s really popping out of New York, you might as well say he’s from Atlanta.”
James later released a video explaining his intentions behind his comments; he stated that he wanted to ignite New York radio to support more New York artists. But NYC rapper Maino and James had a heated phone conversation about the comments, and the audio from that convo leaked to the Web. During the phone call, Maino demanded an apology.
But since then, more rumors have surfaced surrounding James. The most notable of which is a claim that the “All Gold Everything” rapper was robbed at gunpoint while he was in New York City, with some whispering that Maino orchestrated the jacking. Though it hasn’t been officially alleged that Maino was involved in the robbery and no one has confirmed that it actually happened, the story spread quickly online. While not naming any specifics, it appears that James vented via Instagram about the story and the ongoing controversy.
“Of course Y’all gone Keep making s–t up. Y’all n—as can’t make no money. S–t y’all n—as can’t even make a difference. So I get it now. Focus on your Goals and the people who wanna see you win. F–k everybody who don’t believe in you. #dreambelieveturnup #blackbatman,” James posted.
