Interior designer and master carpenter/builder
How would you describe your career?
I am a musician and singer turned carpenter. I can design it, draw it, build it and decorate it for a complete package of unbridled beauty!
How did you get started in this line of work?
I was a Minister of Music/ Singer for most of my life and at a large church where I was working, I met a retired trim carpenter who introduced me one Saturday to the world of tools and wood and the next thing I knew, carpentry had taken over my life. Customers and projects started” coming out if the woodwork” as they say.
What is the most unique item you created?
A chest that was designed in five minutes that took the weeks to make and is the most beautiful large piece that I have ever created. Completely beautiful, functional and big.
What does success look like for you?
Looking a a pile of wood, fabric, nails and tools at 8am and looking at a finished piece of furniture that was made from those things by 8pm. – complete satisfaction and joy.

Who is an ideal client for you?
Someone who has an imagination and ability to allow me to bring both their thoughts and mine to reality. It’s all about creativity.
What is your favorite tool and why?
Miter Saw (chop saw)
It allows me to cut angles that create all things neatly and precisely. Carpentry depends on it and so do I.
If you had your own television show, what would make it unique/special?
To see one man take wood, fabric, tools and skill and create incredible rooms and things of quality.
What is your most proud professional accomplishment?
Being chosen as one of the 10 best handymen in America by HGTV 2012
What inspires you to work in this field?
Floyd Jones, from Dallas, is the reason. He is a role model that allows his words and actions to speak loudly in his daily life from a work and social position. Just a great guy.
If someone else was looking to go into your line of work, what would you suggest they MUST possess to succeed?
They must have drive, be a self started, be precise and neat and most of all, be creative and think outside the box.
