For many around the world, the sudden loss of actor Paul Walker has dramatically affected their lives. One person who was especially close to the Fast and Furious franchise star and has been open about the tough loss, is his costar Vin Diesel.
Diesel recently took to his Facebook page where he shared that he visited Walker’s mother shortly after news broke of her son’s death.
“When I heard, I immediately flew back to California, and went directly from the plane to his mother’s house,” Diesel wrote. “I thought they needed my strength, but realized when I got there and broke down before his family, that it was I who needed theirs.”
“His mother hugged me and said I am so sorry… I said, ‘Sorry? You’re the mother who lost a son…’ She said, ‘Yes, but you lost your other half…'” he continued.
Diesel also paid tribute to Walker on Monday, Dec. 2 following a private memorial service in Santa Clarita, Calif. where the Fast and Furious actor spoke to the crowd over a police loudspeaker.
He said, “If my brother were here right now and saw all the love that you’re bringing here. If he could see for himself that all of you have showed up to show my brother love at this hard time. That his family gets to see all of you show the love that you’ve shown Paul. It’s going to stay with me forever. I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for coming down here and showing that angel up in heaven how much you appreciate him. It’s going to stay with me for ever.”
