Michelle Obama reacts to President Obama’s selfie
While most people focused on President Obama’s poignant words during Tuesday’s Nelson Mandela memorial service, others couldn’t help but notice that there appeared to be a bit of friction between him and first lady Michelle Obama. After President Obama gave remarks about the great anti-apartheid leader he was photographed taking a selfie with British Prime Minister David Cameron and Danish Prime Minster Helle Thorning Schmidt.
In the shot, the president is seen holding a camera phone while the first lady looks none too pleased. After the first photo was taken, the first lady switches seats with the president while Prime Minister Schmidt who was previously beaming, looks deflated.
Critics are currently blasting President Obama for snapping a picture during the service and others are praising Michelle Obama for putting a cap on his “fun” with his fellow world leaders either out of respect for the sanctity of the ceremony or out of jealousy.
Either way it’s clear that Michelle Obama was not in the mood.
