No. 1 Random Access Memories by Daft Punk

Is it electronica? Is it straightforward pop? Does it matter? Daft Punk brought virtually every facet of dance floor-oriented pop music from the last 35 years together on one record and the party sounds amazing. They dip into balladry ever so often, but the strength in this record is how it can meld so many influences (from Chic to The Strokes) to make such a cohesive album. And despite its digital sheen, there’s an oddly human feel to every song here.
