Leslie Jones, LaKendra Tookes added to ‘Saturday Night Live’

After uproar over the lack of black female cast members at “Saturday Night Live,” two women of color have been added to the writer’s room. Leslie Jones and Lakendra Tookes (above) will write for the program beginning Monday, Jan. 13. According to the Hollywood Reporter, which got the scoop, both ladies were discovered during auditions for black female comediennes.

Jones has a résumé that includes “Def Comedy Jam” and ” “1st Amendment Stand Up” while Tookes works as both an actress and comedienne after previously working as a Florida news reporter.

Obviously excited about the news, Jones who writes under the twitter handle @Lesdoggg posted the tweet below bout her new job.

As previously reported, Sasheer Zamata, SNL’s first black female comic in six years, will make her debut on Jan. 18 when Drake hosts the program.

Congratulations to these three black (and beautiful) mavens!
