Purdue University shooting

A shooting on the campus of Purdue University left one person dead and an engineering student in police custody. The West Lafayette, Ind., school was put on lockdown Tuesday after news surfaced that someone had been shot inside the electrical engineering building.

The victim has since been identified as Andrew Boldt, a 21-year-old senior from West Bend, Wis., who also worked as a teaching assistant. Cody Cousins (mug shot above), a 23-year-old student in Purdue’s college of engineering, has now been booked on a preliminary charge of murder.

Purdue Polie Chief John Cox has since released a statement saying,”This appears to be an isolated and intentional act.” He also noted that “the victim appeared to have been targeted by the suspect, and it was no more and no less than that.”

Police are still trying to determine the motive behind the shooting.
