Congrats to Jay Z and Beyoncé who round out the top of this year’s top Billboard Power List. Jay and Bey are still riding high from their epic success in 2013. While Beyoncé broke all the rules when she dropped her super secret self titled, record-breaking visual album, Hov went platinum with the release of his Magna Carta Holy Grail album and collaboration with Samsung.
With all of their success in 2013, it only seems right that Billboard pay homage to music’s power duo.
“She took a high risk and was highly rewarded for it — I love what she did. Thank you, Beyoncé—it brings much-needed excitement and buzz to our industry,” said Guy Oseary, who manages Madonna and U2.
“Artists have always had the power but courage is in short supply. It’s just that the hip-hop generation believes in the possibilities,” said Jay Z’s longtime associate Lyor Cohen.
“Jay and Beyoncé don’t listen to the noise—they make the noise,” Oseary continued.
Other names on the list include Bryan ‘Birdman’ Williams and Ronald ‘Slim’ Williams (#50), Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid (#56), Debra Lee (#92) and more. – ruthie hawkins/@ruubabie
