A high school tennis coach was forced to cut her dreadlocks after bedbugs crawled into her hair during a hotel visit. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Donna Brumfield and her tennis team stayed at the Palatine Holiday Inn Express in October 2012.

During her second day at the hotel, the manager told her she would need to change rooms because bedbugs were discovered in the hotel. The hotel’s exterminators told her that bed bugs were in her headboard. Brumfield went to a clinic and was treated for bedbug bites on her hands, arms, shoulder and neck.

One week later, doctors told Brumfield that she would have to cut her hair due to the bedbugs. Brumfield was distraught because it took her 12 years to grow her locs.  She has decided to sue Holiday Inn Express for $50,000 based on negligence.
