Kendrick Lamar sees a major Spotify spike after the Grammys

Kendrick Lamar may not have taken home the Grammy for Best Rap Album, but it looks the Compton, Calif., emcee is a big winner in the wake of the major awards show. According to a press release from Spotify, Lamar’s catalog saw a 99 percent increase after the Grammys aired. The music streaming service issued a press release announcing the spike in certain artists’ music after the show.

Kendrick Lamar posted the largest jump of any rap act on Spotify.


Other Grammy notables also saw their music affected. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis had a 65 percent increase on Spotify after winning four Grammys. Pharrell saw a 54 percent bump in Spotify traffic. Beyoncé’s single “Drunk in Love” had a 52 percent increase after she performed the song at the awards ceremony.

Streams of “Another Star,” which Daft Punk performed with Stevie Wonder, increased by 635 percent on Spotify, more than any other song performed at the Grammys.


Daft Punk had the largest increase on Spotify between Sunday and Monday. The electronica duo’s music was streamed 205 percent more over the course of the first day following the Grammys.
