Lil Wayne’s lyrics used as homework?!

No one can deny that rap in its purest form is poetry set to music.

The music and lyrics of 2Pac, Nas and others have been used in higher education — but everyone’s lyrics aren’t meant to be used in a classroom setting. A line has to be drawn somewhere.

And for one eighth grade English teacher in Florida, that line was drawn at Lil Wayne.

The parents of students at the Charter Schools of Boynton Beach, Fla., were none too pleased to learn that their kids had been sent home with instructions to read the lyrics to the uncensored version of Weezy’s “6 Foot 7 Foot” to find examples of figurative language within the song.

School officials say the assignment was not in the approved curriculum and have deemed it inappropriate.

The teacher was suspended for three days.

So much for relating to kids at their level.
