With action hero franchises like CW’s “Arrow” and ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” ringing in big numbers, FOX Network is looking to cash in with their very own prequel to one of the biggest comics series of all time… Batman.
Deadline reports:
“Based on DC characters from the Batman universe, Gotham explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon (McKenzie) as an idealistic rookie detective in Gotham City, along with Bruce Wayne and the villains who made Gotham City famous.”
But what’s an action hero spin off without a fierce villain? Poised to play the woman in the mask, is none other than Jada Pinkett Smith, whose been tapped to play Fish Mooney, “an imposing, hotheaded and notoriously sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner with street smarts and almost extra-sensory abilities to read people like an open book.”
Jada broke the news to her fans yesterday on Facebook saying:
“Last night, I decided to accept the role of Fish Mooney, who is the sadistic villain in thee upcoming Batman prequel, Gotham, for Fox TV. I’ve committed to a year to work alongside a very talented cast, a super cool, creative and talented head writer and an extraordinary director. This one…is going to be funnnnnn!”
Sounds exciting! Congrats to Jada on the new role. – ruthie hawkins/@ruubabie
