Another murderer has been set free under Florida’s savage “Stand Your Ground Law.” According to a report by the Orlando Sentinel, John Wayne Rogers killed his best friend and had his case dismissed under “Stand Your Ground” law, and walked out of the courtroom with the murder weapon.

Rogers, 40 was hosting overnight guest, James DeWitt and his girlfriend in March 2012. After a night of drinking, Rogers and DeWitt began arguing. Rogers claims that he shot and killed DeWitt because he had no choice.

However, DeWitt’s girlfriend claims that the two were horse playing and Rogers shot DeWitt without a reason. It was also noted that Rogers had a history of violence. Rogers fired 15 rounds at his cousin in 2010; a year later, Rogers pushed and punched a woman in the face.

Rogers was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of DeWitt. The jury began deliberating on Feb. 21, but the judge granted Rogers immunity from prosecution over the “Stand Your Ground” law.
