Detroit Police Chief James Craig lives and works in the tough city of Detroit. So when he received a death threat via social media he responded by saying, “We will find you and dismantle your criminal enterprise.”
Law enforcement officials have been working with federal authorities to curb the crime in the bankrupt city of Detroit. A narcotics network was identified and targeted and one of the gangsters posted a message on an unidentified social media site about Craig stating, “we need to clap him out” which is slang for shooting someone to death.
Now law enforcement is not only looking for the person who posted the threat; but also the people who supported the threat. Chief Craig went on to say “No way will we back off. You don’t get to threaten a police chief. You threaten a police chief; you threaten every member of that police department. You threaten a police chief, and you threaten every member of our community. That’s not acceptable. This reiterates that we’re doing the right thing.”
The FBI, state and local law enforcement are working in a joint task force to arrest and prosecute members of the network. Craig stated that the investigation “will extend beyond the borders of the city of Detroit.”
