Sometimes when things aren’t broke you shouldn’t bother with trying to fix them.
Maybe this is something that Kanye West has come to realize since the release of Yeezus. You may remember in 2010 as a set up to his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album, Kanye created the G.O.O.D. Friday music series in which he would release a new song every Friday much to the delight of his fans.
Some songs (“Take One For The Team”, “Lord Lord Lord”, “G.O.O.D Friday” and “Looking For Trouble”) never made an album and remained only available via KanyeWest.com as part of the series while others (“Power”, “Monster”, “So Appalled” and “Devil In A Blue Dress”) were released from the MBDTF album months before the album actually dropped.
G.O.O.D Music artist Cyhi The Prince, who appeared on a number of the G.O.O.D. Friday songs, says he’s going to see to it that the series is revived.
“We got a lot of stuff coming out this year. A lot of different features, a lot of G.O.O.D. Friday things. I got a couple more mixtapes I want to release and an album,” CyHi reveals to MTV. “I’m doing it. I’m making sure it’s coming back. Now [Kanye is] my partner long enough to where I can say, ‘Ye, we doing this!!’”
Here’s to hoping Cyhi has as much juice with Kanye as he think he does.
