Amanda Seales is most known for tickling our funny bones on  MTV but since then this comedian, host and culture critic continues to provide commentary for networks like VH1, HLN, CNN, MTV, and AOL. Through the years one thing as remained the same, she always rocks a curly ‘fro.

Seales recently co-hosted a Dark and Lovely event featuring a new line of products, “Au Naturale.” Au Naturale is a complete line of hair care and styling products that address the major hair concerns of women of color: dryness, breakage and shrinkage.

Seales happened to be there with her mother, affectionately called “Netty.” Seales talked about her hair journey and the role her mother played in that process. “We have different hair so she has a whole different regimen than I would have. I always wanted my hair straight and we tried everything hot combs, blow-dryers, everything. In high school I was like ‘forget it!’ and [my hair] became my trademark. When I’m in the press I make it a point to wear my hair natural, because I think it matters.'”

Recalling the most popular hair products available to women of color in the past, names like Pink Lotion, Blue Magic and Jam!  Seales was grateful that hair products for both relaxed and natural hair have come a long way.

Much thanks to Dark and Lovely for developing a line of products that cater to the range of hair issues women of color have.
