Actress Zulay Henao gives insight as to why this film was important to her as a child of divorced parents. “The subject matter is so relevant and it’s a good dialogue to have. I think Tyler [Perry] is very smart for doing this. This a is well-rounded diverse cast that provides different perspectives.”
Actress, Cocoa Brown, another star in the film, had some fears of her own being a single mother in real life.
“There are stereotypes about single motherhood. When I became one I was scared I was going to be stuck with this scarlet letter. This movie let me know that single mothers should be applauded. We wear a cape and some of us are raising our babies completely on our own.”
Big- and small-screen favorite, actress Jenifer Lewis uses her eight aunts as inspiration for the characters she plays. When asked about real-life single moms Lewis stated, “We need to honor and support our single mothers. It’s not easy.”
