Another day, another successful athlete throws his career away by assaulting the one closest to him … his fiancé. Baltimore Ravens running back, Ray Rice has been indicted on third degree aggravated assault charges after brutally beating his fiancée and child’s mother, Janay Palmer unconscious.
On Feb. 15, the two got into a physical altercation at the Revel Casino and Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J., where they were videotaped attacking each other. Nice allegedly hit Palmer so hard that she was knocked unconscious.
In the footage obtained by TMZ, the 27-year-old NFL star can be seen dragging his fiancée’s body by her arms across the floor, outside of an elevator at the hotel despite her comatose condition.
As Nice drags Palmer’s body across the ground, he is approached by what looks like a security guard and is questioned until authorities arrive to arrest him as well as his fiancée, who comes around later. They were later released that same night.
The Ravens have stood by their star athlete by releasing the following statement Thursday: “This is part of the due process for Ray. We know there is more to Ray Rice than this one incident.” If convicted, Rice could face some pretty ugly consequences including penalties, a prison sentence up to three to five years and probation.- ruthie hawkins/@ruubabie
