Sharon Ferguson, 28, dumped her newborn son in a trash can hours after she gave birth. The Greenville, S.C., mom wrapped him in a plastic bag and pink blanket covered in blood. The baby was found alive but in critical condition when a homeowner arrived to check on his rental home in the Nicholtown community and noticed a trail of blood to the trash can.
Ferguson was arrested and a judge set her bond at a whopping $125,000.
The South Carolina Department of Social Services confirms the baby is in “good condition.”
On the other hand, a spokesperson for the family has confirmed Ferguson is homeless and suffers from mental illness. They’ve also stated they didn’t know she was pregnant because she’s been wearing the same baggy jacket and sweatpants for months and she didn’t look pregnant.
