A 14-year-old girl has been charged in the shooting death of another 14-year-old girl, Endia Martin. According to reports from ABC 7 Chicago, the teenagers began arguing over a boy on Facebook.
The girls, who were once friends, decided to meet and fight after school. But when they met up, the suspect was given a .38 caliber handgun by an older teenager. The suspect attempted to shoot the gun, but it jammed.
Martin and others began to run. The suspect handed the gun to another person who cleared the malfunction and gave it back to her. The suspect then fired and shot Martin in the back and a 16-year-old girl in the arm.
Martin died and the 16-year-old was rushed to the hospital, treated and released. The 14-year-old suspect was charged with murder, and a 17-year-old boy who hid the gun was charged with felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of felony unlawful use of a weapon and reckless damage. An adult was taken into custody but has not been charged.
