Chicago honor student allegedly killed her friend with gun given by her paralyzed uncle

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 14-year-old girl.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Donell Flora caught the bus to deliver a .38 caliber handgun to his 14-year-old niece, who allegedly killed her friend, Endia Martin.


Flora, who is paralyzed after being shot in 2010, learned that his niece had a dispute with Martin over a boy. After words were exchanged on Facebook, the two decided to meet and fight. Flora caught the public bus to the Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago and handed the .38 special to his niece as two groups of girls squared off.

Flora’s niece pointed the gun at an older woman who attempted to break up the fight before things got out of hand  The woman’s 16-year-old niece swung a  chain at the girl holding the gun.


The 14-year-old attempted to shoot the gun, but it malfunctioned. She allegedly handed the gun to Flora, who fixed it. Flora’s niece grabbed the gun and shot the 16-year-old girl in the bicep. She also aimed the gun at Martin and fatally shot her in the back as she ran in the direction of her house.

The girl shot several other times, but missed.

The teenage shooter was an honor roll student and basketball player at Hope College Prep High School. She was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder. Flora was also charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder. He is being held on $3 million bond.
