Gucci Mane likely won’t be leaving prison until 2016, but the incarcerated Atlanta rapper is at least keeping busy during his time behind bars. According to Gucci, he is writing a novel that is based on his life. The rapper posted on Twitter about his latest endeavor, but didn’t share any details about the book other than its title.
“I’m writing a novel about my life,” Gucci tweeted. “The Diary of a Trap God.”
Gucci recently struck a deal after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon — a charge that typically carries a maximum sentence of 10 years. Because of his plea deal, Gucci should only be in prison for 39 months, gaining a 10-month credit for time served.
Despite his projected release in 2016, Gucci also tweeted that he’s planning a tour in 2015. “The Guwop Tour! The greatest show on earth …coming 2015 #BURR,” the rapper tweeted.
Gucci Mane, born Radric Davis, has had countless legal troubles over the course of his career.
He was charged with murder after shooting and killing a man in Decatur, Georgia, in 2005 — those charges were later dropped. In 2011, he was charged with battery for pushing a woman out of a moving car because she wouldn’t go to a hotel with him. Also that year, Gucci was arrested and charged with battery and a week later was arrested on two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following incidents in DeKalb County Jail. In 2013, he was arrested for assaulting a fan with a champagne bottle at an Atlanta nightclub. A month later, he was taken into custody for “behaving erratically” after a friend called the Atlanta police on him.
