Jessica Bachmaier, 26, was nothing short of irresponsible and careless when she mixed her 13-month-old daughter Nevaeh’s baby formula with what she thought was two ounces of water. When she took the toddler to the hospital in Pittsburgh because she was disoriented she found out Navaeh, which is heaven spelled backwards, had a blood alcohol content of 0.289, which is three times the legal driving limit for adults in the state.
Bachmaier claims she doesn’t drink and believes her male friend who babysat her daughter while she was at work left the bottle behind. “Her motor skills weren’t there. She wasn’t cooperating. She was like a limp noodle,” Bachmaier says, and describes her daughter as one “who was losing her balance, getting up and falling down like a zombie. I let her sleep for an hour and 15 minutes and then I took her to the hospital.”
Navaeh is now in foster care. Her mom is desperate to get her back. “I’ve been through foster homes and I’ve been adopted and that’s all that went through my head. I know she’s young and she doesn’t understand. I’m scared for her and I’m worried about her. I can’t sleep and I can’t eat. I just want her to be OK,” she pleads.
