“… and John Meneilly-aire is my consigliere” rapped Jay Z on his “A Mill/A Billi” freestyle a few years back. It was a shout-out to his longtime business partner and trusted adviser John Meneilly. Unfortunately, according to reports, that longtime partnership has run its course.
According to the New York Daily News, Meneilly and Jay Z have mutually and amicably decided to part ways and end their business dealings with one another.
The timing of the split is a tad peculiar as it comes on the heels of the infamous altercation between Jay Z and sister-in-law, Solange; and right before Jay Z hits the road for the On The Run tour with wife, Beyoncé. Some say the incident at the Met gala has (at least temporarily) stained Jay Z’s public persona.
Meneilly was instrumental in helping to make the historic Magna Carta Holy Grail/Samsung deal become a reality and was a key executive in the Roc Nation empire. Prior to working extensively with Jay Z, Meneilly was a high ranking executive at Provident Financial.
