A grandmother’s love has saved a lot of troubled youth. However Brandon Machetto, age 18, could not be helped and his grandmother Sylvia Schmitt, age 74, paid the price with her life. Machetto moved in with his grandmother for several weeks at a nudist colony near Lutz, Florida. According to Paco County police spokesperson Melanie Snow, it was not a good relationship and the two reportedly argued constantly.
This past Monday, neighbors called police when they witnessed Machetto drag a body into a minivan. The body was that of his grandmother whom he had killed earlier. Machetto then took off driving around with the body in the van. Police tried to pull him over but Machetto would not stop. Eventually Machetto found himself in the back of the Paradise Lakes nudist community where he was arrested. Police state that Machetto has been charged with first degree murder and is being held without bail. No explanation has been given as to why he killed his grandmother, but according to local media, he suffers from a brain injury.
