Legendary West Coast hip-hop producer and rapper DJ Quik had to eat his words on social media this week. The Compton, California native exploded on Twitter after not seeing his music available via Beats By Dre’s BeatsMusic app. Beats By Dre, of course, was created by another legendary hip-hop producer from Compton: Dr. Dre.
“There is no DJ QUIK music on the Beatsmusic app,” Quik fumed. “THIS IS PERSONAL AND I’M NOT TAKING IT ANYMORE. ITS ON.”
Quik then threw another shot at Dr. Dre.
“TUPAC YOU WERE RIGHT ON THE MONEY,” he also tweeted, in reference to several disses the late rapper Tupac Shakur hurled at Dre back in the mid-1990s.
It appears, however, that Quik was wrong in jumping to the conclusion that his music was not available on the BeatsMusic platform. Because shortly after going on his rant, Quik acknowledged that he was mistaken.
“”MY MUSIC IS ON THE BEATSMUSIC APP. I WAS WRONG,” Quik tweeted.
Dr. Dre made headlines last month with the sale of Beats By Dre to Apple Electronics for $2.6 billion.
