Facebook ignores diversity as only 2 percent

If you’re a minority or a woman, going online is likely the closest you will ever get to being a part of Facebook. After the company released an employment report for the first time in its history, it’s obvious that Facebook’s employees are predominately white males.

The employee report revealed that 85 percent of Facebook employees are males and 57 percent are white. Only 2 percent of Facebook’s employees are black and 4 percent are Hispanic. Females don’t get many opportunities at Facebook either, as only 15 percent of its work force is comprised of women.

When it comes to their board of directors, Facebook doesn’t have any black members on its board.

Jesse Jackson recently spent time in Silicon Valley and blasted Facebook, Google and Apple for their lack of diversity.

“There are zero blacks and Latinos in the C-suites all too often. Tech powerhouses including Facebook, Apple, and Google, new media companies like Twitter, have zero blacks on their boards of directors. In the C-suites, Facebook, Twitter, Apple, and far too many companies have zero African Americans on their boards or Latinos in their leadership positions in the C-suites,” Jackson wrote.
