All week long, people have been talking about the alleged shade that Nicki Minaj threw at Iggy Azalea during her acceptance speech at the BET Awards. And though Minaj recently clarified that she wasn’t speaking about Iggy, the Australian rapper recently addressed the controversy and said that she’s unbothered by it all.
The drama first began Sunday when Minaj accepted the award for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist for the fifth year in a row and inserted a controversial line about authenticity in her speech.
“What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it,” she said,
The crowd let out a collective gasp before Minaj clarified that she meant no offense to any other rapper … “No, no, no shade, no, no, no shade,” she said, smirking.
Minaj recently clarified her statement, saying that “the media puts words in my mouth all the time and this is no different. I will always take a stance on women writing b/c I believe in us!”
“I’ve congratulated Iggy on the success of Fancy, publicly. She should be very proud of that. All the women nominated should b proud,” she added.
However, Iggy recently released a statement of her own about the matter, saying that she’s “unbothered” by the whole thing and isn’t interested in a feud with anyone.
Considering that Iggy’s “Fancy” is sitting at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the sixth week in a row, breaking the record for any female MC, we can understand why she doesn’t care about what anyone has to say about her or an alleged beef. – nicholas robinson
