Singer Mya says there is zero truth to rumors floating around that she’s been having a secret affair with hip-hop superstar Jay Z for over a decade. With Beyoncé changing the lyrics of her B’Day track “Resetnment” during a recent performance in Ohio, fans and media have wondered aloud why she revised a lyric that referenced a six year relationship to “11 years.”
Jay and Bey began dating eleven years ago. He’d also collaborated with another single-named pop star years before that time: Mya. And for some reason, some have begun whispering that the mystery woman who may be undermining the most famous marriage in music is the “Best of Me” singer herself.
But Mya addressed the speculation via an Instagram post.
“Never did, never was, never will,” Mya wrote in response to an Instagram user. “Illegitimate, thirsty sources with no facts and that’s the ‘media’ for you-especially today. I play second to no one, pay my own bills, have my own label, own management company, rely on God only and respect myself & marriage too much for nonsense.”
“False rumors are crafted for ratings and numbers,” she continued. “And miserable, unhappy people need someone to judge to deter their attention away from their own misery and feel better about their miserable lives. If they did it to Jesus, they’ll do it to anyone. God bless.”
